What we do?

We run a variety of events and activities for young people.  Don’t see what you’re looking for below? We are also able to create activities that suit the individual needs of your students or school. Get in touch at enquiries@debp.org

Careers and pathways

Employability skills workshops provide help in job searching, writing a letter of application, writing a CV, filling in job applications and interview practice. Mock interviews enable pupils to learn from a business volunteer about what a real-life interview might be like. They aim to increase confidence and develop skills to be successful in an interview.

Enterprise activities

Enterprise activities or challenges provide pupils with an opportunity to understand how businesses operate and the skills they’ll need for work. For example, pupils may be asked to design and market a product, researching and describing the target market and presenting findings to an audience. Pupils will be encouraged to develop skills in communication, leadership, negotiation, problem-solving and teamwork.

Mentoring

Mentoring aims to improve the engagement, attendance and achievement of 14 to 19 year olds. Volunteers from industry are recruited, trained and DBS – Disclosure and Barring Service - checked to work with an individual student. They provide impartial advice, guidance and act as a positive role model.

Primary activities

We offer a range of exciting activities including K,Nex challenges, Rocket workshops, Soap workshops and Tetrahedron challenges. View our primary offer.

STEM

There are a range of STEM activities that can be arranged in schools and of course there is access to STEM Ambassadors - from North Midlands, South and East Yorkshire - with a background or career in STEM keen to support.  Many volunteers have also expressed an interest in specific schemes such as NHS Healthcare Science Ambassadors, TechFuture Ambassadors and Engineers without Borders Ambassadors to name but a few.

Work placements

Recruitment of employers willing to offer extended work placements to pupils following an alternative curriculum. In addition, briefing workshops, employability skills training and pre-placement interviews can be arranged.
