We have been working in partnership with Destination Chesterfield and local employers to help organise the school events and enable young people to discover more about the manufacturing industry.
Made in Chesterfield is now in its fourth year, and each consecutive year it engages with more young people and teachers, showing them the modern face of industry and the many careers and job roles on offer within the sector locally.
According to reports, Britain needs to produce 69,000 more engineers than it is now to meet the demand in the industry. With skill shortages and Brexit looming, it is more important than ever for companies operating within the manufacturing and engineering sector to engage with the next generation of workers.
In previous years, companies have offered site tours, delivered school talks, practical work experiences and held design competitions during Made in Chesterfield.
