Employer Talk at Saint Benedict

As part of the Raising Aspirations programme Andrew King of Derbyshire Tech Help was invited into Saint Benedict Catholic Voluntary Academy to share his journey of starting up and running an IT business. Andrew talked about adversities he had overcome and how maths and English skills learnt at school are incredibly important transferrable skills in the world of work.  Students with a particular interest in technology were selected for the session with Andrew. The talk was followed by a Q&A session and a chance for one particular student to ask Andrew for his opinion and advice on his own idea for a PC repair business.  This student had the chance to voice his ideas to Andrew and get constructive criticism and advice which he gladly took on board. The student has since been inspired and plans to start an afterschool club for coding / computer science.
