Made in Chesterfield is organised by Destination Chesterfield and DEBP.  It is sponsored by the University of Derby.  It is designed to bring together businesses, schools and training providers to showcase the sector to future school leavers.

Since it was established, more than 2,500 young people from schools have spent time in the area’s manufacturing and engineering businesses. Chesterfield College, have seen an increase in the number of students involved in STEM related subjects since it was launched.

The visits to businesses operating within the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sector are organised by DEBP.

The programme is also supported by United Cast Bar Ltd and Natwest Bank.  Both were pivotal in establishing the project with Destination Chesterfield.

It was launched in 2014 and was initially a month long festival which took place every November.  In November 2018, following the ongoing success and to open the opportunities up to more business and young people the festival has become a rolling programme of activity.
